Rubbermaid Commercial Products brings home the Gold IDEA Award

Rubbermaid Commercial Products, the leader in Pedestrian Safety Products has won the IDSA Gold Award. Co-sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek, RCP’s Folding Safety Cone was recognized as one of the "best product designs of the year." According to Michael McCoy, IDSA, Partner McCoy & McCoy, Rubbermaid Commercial Product’s Folding Safety Cone is "...convenient to deploy and compact to store."

According to Rubbermaid Commercial Products’ Industrial Design Manager Reneau Van Landingham, "The Folding Safety Cone, designed by Owen Slater, is a business solution as well as a design success. Businesses can easily protect their employees and visitors from slips and falls, and help limit potential personal injury liability by having safety signs where they are most needed. The innovative, lightweight and collapsible signs are easy to position throughout any facility, enabling immediate caution notification at the point of hazards."

About IDEA, Industrial Designers & IDSA

The IDEA program fosters business and public understanding about the impact of industrial design excellence on the quality of life and the economy.

Industrial designers determine the form, use features and interaction qualities of manufactured products, packaging and digital media systems. They study people at work, at home and in motion to create satisfying experiences with products from the kitchen and the office to the hospital and the warehouse, shaping these to fit their customers and to make effective use of industrial processes. In this way, industrial designers have a quiet but profound presence in almost everything people encounter during the day.

IDSA is the nonprofit association that represents the profession of industrial design to education, business, government and the public and serves the profession’s needs for information and networking.
